Whether you’ve just purchased your first Lexus or you’re a long standing customer driving your third or fourth generation LS, you understand the importance of protecting your investment. The array of available warranties from the factory and other companies are all designed to make doing that easier and more affordable but, as valuable as all of these products and services are, the single most important thing you can do toward that end is still the most basic: Maintenance. Proper maintenance and service is the determining factor in vehicle reliability and longevity and as such, the decision of who will perform this maintenance is paramount. Over the years, there has been much speculation and debate regarding the best place to service your vehicle, the dealership or the independent shop.  Independents often rely on a number of factors to earn your business; Local charm and convenience, coupon campaigns, personal service and lower prices. They will also reassure you with claims of having the same access to information as the dealers do therefore giving them the same level of knowledge. They will also lead you to believe that the dealership will merely treat you like a number amongst a sea of other customers. While recognizing that these shops are capable of performing repairs and service on your vehicle, it is important to explore their claims in contrast to the experience you’ll have at your Lexus dealership.

Lexus prides itself in quality customer experiences every time you enter the dealership. If you would like to work with a specific service advisor and/or technician, it is welcomed and encouraged to simply request who you’d like to work with. Despite what some independent shops may try to infer, Lexus service advisors and technicians enjoy creating relationships with their customers and vehicles rather than treat you as a number. We want you to feel welcome in our facility, comfortable with our people and most off confident in the services you are receiving and the people performing them.

Upon arrival, you will be promptly greeted and escorted to your factory trained service advisor to discuss your vehicle’s needs where your advisor will explain in detail what the factory recommends for this service based on your mileage and service history. Depending on the nature of your service visit you’ll either be driven to your next destination on our complimentary shuttle or you’ll be provided with a Lexus vehicle from the loaner fleet to carry out your day as planned. Is it more convenient to travel a short distance or to know that if your vehicle needs to stay at the shop, you’ll have a vehicle to use free of charge until the work is done? If you prefer to wait or are having a quick service performed, you’ll be directed to the customer lounge where the amenities far surpass a free cup of coffee, the occasional TV and a magazine rack.

While you’re enjoying the amenities or carrying on with your day, your vehicle enters the service department where it will receive treatment that only a Lexus certified technician can administer. While independent shops may have access to some manufacturer technical information, it is very costly to stay up to date and not all shops maintain that information as frequently as recommended by aftermarket information suppliers. Lexus technicians and service advisors not only have the most up-to-date information available through the Toyota/Lexus factory information system, but they are continually trained by the manufacturer specifically on your vehicle and have first-hand knowledge of common things to look for while inspecting it and assessing your concerns. Diagnosis time and labor may come at a lower hourly rate at an independent but it may also take considerably more time compared to a seasoned factory technician who can quickly confidently diagnose and repair the vehicle using his or her training, factory supplied specialty tools and invaluable experience on your vehicle. Additionally, while you will likely need to wait for a part to be ordered at the corner garage, your Lexus dealer will have a large inventory of parts and quick access to OE parts distribution centers resulting in much less vehicle down time for you.

Along with the confidence of having factory certified professionals working on and advising you on your vehicle, you will also have the comfort of the warranty that comes with each service. One of the biggest cost savings at an independent shop is the use of aftermarket parts. While they are less expensive and designed to perform as the OE part does, not all parts are created equal and no manufacturer will honor your warranty pertaining to any aftermarket parts installed on your vehicle.  Aside from your standard vehicle warranty or extended plan, our technicians use only OE (Original Equipment) parts which are backed by a 12-month warranty that can be honored at any Lexus dealership in the nation.
